The Chamartín Operation, renamed Madrid Nuevo Norte, is an ambitious urban renewal project in Madrid that has been in development for almost nine decades since its first proposals and finally seems ready to begin, although it still faces challenges.

The project covers 2.3 million square meters, stretching from Plaza de Castilla to the M-40 highway, spanning a length of 5.6 kilometers. It is planned as a driver of economic growth and sustainable urban transformation, aiming to adapt to the environmental challenges of the 21st century.

According to Álvaro Aresti, president of DCN (Distrito Castellana Norte), the operation represents “the beginning of the greatest urban transformation in Madrid’s recent history and the largest to be undertaken in Europe.”

About the PROJECT:

The Residential Project situated within the Madrid Nuevo Norte (MNN) master plan is conceived to enhance the quality of life of its inhabitants through sustainable and human-centered urban design. It integrates work, leisure, and recreational spaces that encourage community interaction, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

Inspired by the “hygge” philosophy and guided by organic architectural principles, the project combines green areas, natural light, and modular, customizable housing. Its stepped terraces offer views of MNN’s central park, improve energy efficiency, and enrich Madrid’s skyline.

The ground floors include commercial and communal areas, connecting the residences with their urban surroundings. The design emphasizes sustainability, safety, and accessibility, offering diverse housing types suited to different user profiles.

Overall, this residential development within the Madrid Nuevo Norte plan seeks not only to provide housing but to promote a balanced, inclusive, and environmentally responsible lifestyle, contributing to Madrid’s most significant urban transformation.
